Feeding challenges go way beyond refusing broccoli.

At Rehab Specialists of Idaho, our pediatric occupational therapists AND pediatric speech therapists use the evidence-based program SOS Approach to Feeding to help kids overcome serious mealtime struggles.
Here are 10 common feeding myths we bust in therapy with the SOS Approach to Feeding. Do any of them sound like something you’ve tried to convince yourself of?
The myths:

Eating is the body’s #1 priority

Eating is instinctive

Eating is easy

Eating = sit down + eat

Don’t touch or play with your food

If they’re hungry enough, they’ll eat

Kids only need to eat 3x/day

It’s either behavioral OR medical

Only “good” foods at “appropriate” times

Mealtimes must be proper and polite
Feeding is a complex, learned skill, and for some kiddos, it takes compassionate support from the right RSI therapist to get there.
If your child struggles with mealtimes, we’re here to help! Call or text us if you have any questions or want to schedule an evaluation.
