Ask an RSI Expert
Today’s question is answered by Brian Kingsford BS, OTR/L –an RSI occupational therapist based primarily in our Rexburg Pediatric Clinic.
Question: How can OT help my ADHD diagnosed child?
Answer: “ADHD is a condition that can affect a child’s ability to focus, attend, organize, and orient. In addition, it also can affect their ability to cope and regulate themself because when the demands of life are not adequately met then frustration, helplessness and anxiety can occur.
Occupational Therapy is extremely beneficial to the support of a child who has ADHD. Not only does OT directly work on strategies to help a child with the necessary focus, attention, and organization for skill development, but it also helps a child with coping, sensory, and self-regulatory skills that are needed when dealing with the effects of ADHD.”
